After four days of the Nova Rock Festival 2024, organizers and emergency services draw a positive conclusion. Except for some rain showers on Sunday night, the festival went off without major incidents.

The Nova Rock Festival in Nickelsdorf ended on Sunday. Highlights of the finale included performances by Bring Me the Horizon, Dropkick Murphys, and Babymetal. Organizer Ewald Tatar was pleased and reported with a smile about „200,001 visitors“ over four days. The New York hardcore band Biohazard played early Sunday afternoon, delighting the crowd. Despite the rain on Saturday night, the festival grounds were in good condition again.
Weather and Atmosphere
On Saturday, the busiest day, it began to rain just in time for the performances of Måneskin and Alice Cooper. Tatar expressed frustration with the inaccurate weather forecasts: „Four services predicted one to six liters of rain; we actually got 25 liters.“ This delayed the departure of day visitors. Nevertheless, the overall mood remained positive: „The previous days were great, and Saturday was 90 percent perfect.“
New Music Genres and Safety Measures
For the first time, accordion and folk music were more prominently featured in the program. Tatar explained that this was due to performances by Folkshilfe and Fäaschtbänkler, and the audience responded well. „There will continue to be such elements, but we will not plan a whole day of brass music,“ he assured.
The Red Cross mainly treated everyday injuries such as abrasions and bee stings. In the cold and rainy night leading into Sunday, many festival-goers were protected from hypothermia. Overall, the number of medical treatments slightly increased compared to the previous year. Over 500 Red Cross employees were on duty, providing valuable assistance.
Traffic and Departure
By Monday morning, most festival-goers had already left. Despite slightly slow-moving traffic, there were no major traffic jams. The police also reported no major incidents, and road conditions improved after the rainy Sunday.
The most frequent interventions by the ÖAMTC were due to lost car keys and dead batteries. On Sunday, roadside assistance helped pull vehicles out of the mud and repaired an emergency generator and a hair straightener for the visitors.
Conclusion
The Nova Rock Festival 2024 ended successfully and peacefully despite weather-related challenges. Organizers and helpers were satisfied with the proceedings and cooperation.
